Reflection:
The artifact used for this standard is the Data Inventory I completed in ITEC 7305. This data inventory reviewed all the various data assessments completed in the school year that are used to facilitate data-driven decisions. While this was an individual assignment, I did seek help from my administrators and academic coach to get an accurate picture of the data for our school.
The Data Inventory was a documented that divided between the data source, content area, accessibility, current use, and ways it could be more effective. The standard asks for the artifact to be model and facilitate the effectiveness of the various assessments. Between the Georgia Milestones and running records, there is not a constant milestone test that we're currently using in at the school. This data did influences a discussion with administration on being able to find and use a new assessment tool for checkpoints throughout the school year. It was interesting to learn how/what all different information we are gathering on students throughout the year. From aSPED perspective, it offers several different ways to test and check for mastery for IEP goals.
One thing I did learn from completing the artifact was how much I do not care to be in administration. The amount of information we have been getting for students can be improved and I would like to see an effective way to get all reading levels. Currently, the reading level assessment is information received from the Georgia Milestones about the Lexile level and I do not believe it is always accurate because of how my students do not do well on the tests. To improve the quality of the artifact I would reflect upon my personal practices and be able to identify what current testing I have been suing in the classroom. I would like to have focused on some of the RTI paperwork/assessments that are completed for the students. This may have made the artifact more authentic.
The work that went into creating the artifact impacts school improvement because we are in a constant state of seeking how to better our students and achieve mastery of the standards. The impact can be assessed by improving the various standards and how we effectively plan for the students in the upcoming school year.
