Reflection:
The artifact I have chosen for this standard is the lesson plan I created for ITEC 7430. This lesson plan addresses not only Georgia state standards but it address the ISTE/Nets Standards. My individual contribution for this activity I research and came up with the idea of the character autopsy after a discussion with another co-teacher. This is a fun activity that can reviews several language arts standards and to use technology, as well.
This particular artifact is used to help the students understand some of the ISTE standards for students. This main idea for this lesson is for the students to collaborate (Standard 2) and to use critical thinking (Standard 3) to be able to use character traits in a fun and engaging activity that requires different digital tools. Some of the tools include Padlet, Flipgrid, and Google Docs. The students will use this to complete the assignment with other students in a self-paced assignments, while the teachers facilitate and assesses each group. Therefore the student learning is an experience that does allow digital tools and resources to be used in a positive manner.
One idea I learned from completing this artifact is how my students did a great job to be able to understand how character traits can define a character. One thing I would like to change is to create the activity online via Escape Room where the students can work together in teams. I do plan on completing this activity in the next year and cannot wait to make the changes to improve it for my students.
The work that went into creating the artifact does impact student learning because it allows the students to use a variety of tools to accomplish/ complete an activity. This artifact can also be shared with faculty for faculty development because it will share a different way to assess students. The impact can be assessed with checking for understanding at the end of the activity for defining of character traits.
