Reflection: The artifact for this standard is two screenshots of a blog I contribute to on a consistent basis. To collaborate in the digital sense may mean different things for different teachers. For myself, I am apart of a duo called the “Googly Girls.” Based on this partnership, my friend and I have been creating professional development for our district. While this was a collaboration with my partner, I create my own blog posts about different ideas for technology use in the classroom.
Based on mastery for the standard the artifact is to demonstrate the ability to utilize digital communication and collaboration tools with everyone from students to others on a global scale. Being apart of this duo has allowed me to share ideas and thoughts with others in not only my school but others in my area. Blogging has been a great source of communication with others because I have shared how to do Flipgrid and Padlet via Screencastify. The blog has become a resource for other teachers to look back for instruction, at their own pace. This is a way for us to communicate with others and it has been a very successful way of communicating to a much larger audience.
One thing I have learned from completing this artifact is how I need to be more consistent with the idea of blogging to provide tips and suggestions to others. Especially if we want our community stakeholders to understand all the different things that we are completing in the classroom with our 1:1 technology. One thing I would like to change for the future is to have the blog be more user-friendly and easier to navigate for teachers and others who use it for help. I think that a clear understanding of the blog would make it more meaningful for everyone in our school system.
The artifact can make a difference and can impact school improvement because of the sue of implementing technology in the classroom. Our stakeholders want to see the different materials being used in positive and collaborative ways and this blog is one way to help others to achieve this goal. The impact can be assessed by observing and seeing how the teachers’ attitudes towards tech either improves or gets worse as the school year goes on.
