Reflection:
Reflection is something that I struggle with, as a teacher, because I do not always feel that I am the best judge of my teaching. Therefore the artifact for this standard is the reflection blog I created for ITEC 7410. This blog post shares some of my thoughts on the projects and how I feel that I can make a difference in my district. Since this was a reflection blog, it was an individual activity for me to complete at the end of the semester.
The standard requires the teacher demonstrates the ability to regularly evaluate and reflect on my personal practice. This was accomplished by completing and reviewing the RSS project and developing different technology goals. The purpose behind the RSS project was to build my PLN on Twitter. Twitter has been such a great avenue for ideas and discussions. It has helped me figure out which tech certifications and other opportunities I would like to complete in the upcoming years. From this class, I have become a Google Certified Trainer and have achieved several different certifications (Nearpod, FLipgrid, Google Level 1 & 2).
I learned several different things from completing this artifact including being a leader in my special education department by becoming chair. Based on reflection, I was able to complete a grant to help with my Google Chrome Squad. There are so many things that have helped me become a better teacher and leader in my classroom. One thing I would like to have done differently is figuring out a better way to complete the SWOT analysis and sharing that information with everyone, especially stakeholders.
The work for this artifact has impacted faculty development because I have started collaborating with another teacher to create more professional development opportunities for our staff. This has allowed us to evaluate provide trainings for our district thought we tech camp or even just a quick review of all the technology tools we have available to us in the classroom. The impact can be assessed by completing walkthroughs to see how the use of technology has improved in the classroom.
